Pachalka Springs Petroglyphs
In 2007, Dan and I came across this petroglyph site while on our way to another site. You never know what you’ll find when you are out exploring. These Desert Archaic petroglyphs don’t show up well on the limestone. They were a surprising find.
Death Valley Incinerator
Dan and I visited a little-known incinerator inside Death Valley National Park. It is an interesting little site. There are bits of historic trash here and there, but not too much else. Amazingly, this isn’t the only one in the park.

White Rambler Mine
In early 2009, we went off searching for a few seldom-visited mines on a cold and overcast winter day. It was nice hiking in this remote, isolated corner of Death Valley National Park. The mines are small and more modern. I couldn’t find any information on them.
Shooting Gallery Petroglyphs
This area is a small, out-of-the-way valley that is definitely worth the trip if you are interested in petroglyphs. The name “Shooting Gallery” comes from the idea that the Southern Paiutes who lived here used the valley to hunt animals along a game trail. There are blinds and stacked rock
