Nestled in the Old Woman Mountains Wilderness, the remote Lady Jeanne Mine is a challenging trek for those seeking beautiful scenery, solitude, and mining history. Surprisingly, I couldn't find any history on this gold and silver prospect. One wonders who Lady Jeanne was.
Up at the mine itself are the ruins of a wooden cabin and headframe. A 1950s-era refrigerator and stove remain inside the cabin ruins, and a fallen headframe lies next to a timbered 50-foot shaft. Perhaps the mine's most intriguing feature is its custom hoist, which was cobbled together from an old automobile frame with a four-cylinder engine.

Remember that all artifacts are protected. Take only photographs and let Lady Jeanne's modest remains continue to tell their story to future visitors.
