I met up with Dan, Bill, and a few friends to see if we could find an old cabin and do some mine exploration just outside of Death Valley in a seldom-visited area. The mines around here are small, and I couldn't find much information on their history. Other than this, it was possibly named the Silvia Mine. However, the words "Fields Gollab 1917" are written on the door. The cabin could be from 1917.
This cabin is historic and worth cleaning out and restoring. If you visit, follow backcountry cabin etiquette. My photos are from 2008.
