We recently visited an immense underground mine; spending hours underground exploring its twisting passageways late into the night.
The haulage adit is a steep 800 ft decline to the main body of workings. That is a long drop just to get to the start of the mine!
Once there, we discovered a central hub where large passageways radiate out in all directions. Close by, we found a workshop and miner’s breakroom.
We walked all over this modern mine with its massive drifts and crosscuts worked by heavy trucks. I doubt we saw 20% of the mine. It took about an hour to hike back up the long decline to get out.
Not much is left inside but it is a fascinating place to explore. I can’t wait to go back for another visit and discover more of its secrets.
No directions to this one.
