On top of a mesa and way out in the Utah desert, we came across a few petroglyphs carved into the bedrock. And they were connected in a series… It is a trail! Neither one of us had ever seen anything like this before. Petroglyphs along a wall? Sure, all the time.  On a ceiling? Yup. A petroglyph trail? I didn’t know such a thing existed.

Appropriately, the petroglyphs that make up the trail consist mainly of what appear to be sandal or moccasin symbols. We followed them for at least a quarter of a mile. The trail is broken in places by  topsoil and brush but overall, the trail’s path is clear and easy to follow. The trail seems to rise and then disappear back into a creek. Perhaps it serves as a bypass?
